AMLA is an acronym for the American Mutual Life Association. As a fraternal benefit society, AMLA is a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code. AMLA is licensed only in the State of Ohio. We are a member in good standing of the American Fraternal Alliance, the national trade association for fraternal benefit societies... The American Mutual Life Association (AMLA) is a fraternal benefit society formerly known as the Slovenian Mutual Benefit Association or its Slovenian equivalent, Slovenska Dobrodelna Zveza. It was found in 1910 by a group of Slovenian immigrants in Cleveland as an organization to help immigrants to the US assimilate into their new surroundings. Many of them came with only what they could carry. The AMLA was an organization that helped these immigrants, establish themselves as a positive contributor to society here and to keep the memories and traditions of their former homeland alive through fraternal events and celebrations...
