In this instance, the design of the surrounding spaces defined the flow of the space. The kitchen had to make a statement as a separate space but still had to feel as though it grew from the surrounding walls... Our client came to us and said they wanted the largest island that would fit in this open space. They do a great deal of entertaining and this space needed to serve many purposes. The island is 17' long with tons of storage!
