Abi Howard

Abi graduated from the University of Nottingham in July 2022 and started working for Wright and Morten in August. She has lived in Bramhall for most of her life, until moving to Congleton to join us! Abi has always been around horses and is lucky enough to have owned Basil for nearly 10 years. Basil has recently retired at the grand age of 22 but before he became an expensive lawn mower, they enjoyed galloping across the Cheshire countryside either out hunting or with the Cross Country Chasers. Abi is interested in all aspect of equine work, but particularly orthopaedics. In her spare time Abi still rides as well as having a keen interest in power lifting and playing rugby.

Anna Stonex

Originally from a farming family in the Cotswolds, Anna graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2016. She worked in equine practice in Yorkshire for two years before moving to Wright and Morten in 2018. Anna's main areas of interest are equine orthopaedics and poor performance investigations. She splits her time between seeing cases in the clinic and being out on the road. In 2022 Anna gained her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and became an Advanced Practitioner in Equine Lameness Diagnosis and Therapeutics. She is also an FEI Permitting Treating Vet. Outside of work Anna is kept busy with her little girl, 2 dogs, socialising with friends and family and competing her horses when time allows.

Annie May Hitchin BVSc

Annie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2021. She spent her first year in practice working as a small animal and equine vet in Derbyshire. In October 2022 she started at Wright and Morten focusing solely on equine practice. She enjoys all aspects of equine practice and particularly loves being out and about on the road with her Border Terrier Betty. In her spare time, Annie enjoys walks in the Peak District with Betty and riding her horse Pierre.

Charlotte Doniger

Charlotte has recently joined Wright and Morten after recently returning home to Cheshire having lived in London for a number of years. Charlotte loves all horses and has a passion for Thoroughbreds and eventing. Charlotte works in the admin team along with Claire and Charlotte ( yes there are two Charlotte's ) and is responsible for planning and co-ordinating vets and their visits to your beloved horses. Charlotte loves skiing and travelling with her non horsey, allergic to horses' husband, Martin.

Claire Phillips

Claire graduated from Cambridge and originally joined Wright and Morten in September 2002 as a small animal vet, before joining the equine practice in September 2004. Since 2014 Claire has played an integral part in the growth and development of the equine side of the practice, first as a Partner and more recently as a Clinical Director following acquisition by IVC Evidensia in late 2019. Claire holds a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and is an Advanced Practitioner in Equine Orthopaedics and is based at our clinic where she specialises in lameness investigations and care of the performance horse. Claire is also our main equine surgeon, performing a wide range of elective procedures at our clinic, with a special interest in soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics. Outside of work Claire doesn't stop- she's a keen event rider herself and if she isn't eventing on the weekend she is busy with her 2 children, husband, dogs and horses!

Clare Gresty

Job Titles:

Clare joined Wright & Morten in June 2020. Clare is a Receptionist and is responsible for booking road Vets appointments, ensuring the diary is accurate, and some accounts including weekly invoicing. In Clare's spare time she is busy with her two grown up girls and looking after her many animals including two horses Ed and Okie, two dogs Millie and Oscar and two cats Mable and Boris.

Daga Gladys

Originally from a small village in Poland called Cieladz, Daga has moved to UK in 2017. She has spent couple years working in an eventing yard before joining Wright and Morten in February 2021. In September 2021 she has started training as a Student Veterinary Nurse. Daga's partner in crime is a miniature dachshund called Daphne, who has now been joined by another miniature dachshund called Fred, Daga's partners' dog. Outside of work Daga likes to ride her horse Snap, tries to keep fit and enjoys spending time with her friends.

Flo Griffiths

Flo joined the team in November 2021 as a groom/nursing assistant. Previously Flo worked in the racing industry here in the UK and in New Zealand after completing courses at the British racing school and Reaseheath college. Flo enjoys assisting vets with orthopaedic work ups, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. She is currently working towards her physio therapy certificate at The Open College of Equine studies. Outside of work Flo competes her horse George and spends time with her partner and dogs.

Gemma Perks

Gemma joined the practice in 2016 as a groom/nursing assistant, she has worked around horses all her life on competition yards. She is responsible for inpatient care and assisting the vets with procedures in the clinic. She lives in Holmes Chapel with her partner, young son Dylan and gorgeous Dachshund puppy.

Georgie Leonard Equine

Georgie joined Wright and Morten in 2017 and works at our equine clinic at Somerford park farm. Georgie specialises in debt working within credit control and insurance. Georgie is your first point of call with account queries and also works alongside Fi with insurance payments. In her spare time Georgie enjoys competing her irish draft Laila, walking her three dogs and making memories with her daughter.

Hanja Dickinson

Hanja graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in July 2018 and has been with Wright and Morten ever since. Hanja gained her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in September 2022, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Professional Studies. She enjoys all aspects of being an equine vet, with her main interests being in Equine Medicine and investigating poor performance issues. Hanja is also an Official Veterinarian allowing her to do international equine export papers and an FEI Permitting Treating Vet and Level 1 FEI Official Vet. In her free time, Hanja enjoys competing her dressage horse Charlie and walking with her Dobermann and 2 Dachshunds in the Peak District.

Hannah Marshall

Hannah joined the practice in August 2017 as a groom/nursing assistant. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science from Harper Adams in 2017. Hannah qualified from Bottle Green Training in the summer of 2022 becoming a Equine Veterinary Nurse. She enjoys assisting vets out on the road with radiography, gastroscopy and bandage changes. At the clinic Hannah takes care of the inpatients which includes checking their parameters and drawing up and administering medications. Hannah lives in Congleton with her partner and stepdaughter and likes to socialise with friends.

Hannah Phillips BVSc

Hannah graduated from Liverpool University in 2019. After starting her veterinary career as a mixed large animal vet, she decided to concentrate solely on equine and has been at Wright and Morten for the past 2 years. Her main interests are all things equine head! She has have recently started a certificate in Equine Dentistry and has a keen interest in ophthalmology. She has 2 sausage dogs that keep her busy and has recently developed an ambition to run the Disney half marathon- good luck Hannah!

Jeremy Kemp-Symonds

Jeremy qualified from the University of Glasgow's Veterinary School, but also holds degrees from the University of Birmingham, Nottingham Trent University and the Royal Veterinary College, London. After working at the world-renowned Animal Health Trust in Newmarket for a number of years, his private practice now concentrates entirely on the treatment of horses, ponies and donkeys with skin tumours and Jeremy works with numerous veterinary practices and equine charities throughout the United Kingdom. Jeremy is a member of both the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA) and the European Laser Association (ELA); he is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), a member of the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and a Senior Visiting Fellow at Nottingham Trent University. In addition, he is a member of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA), the British Veterinary Association (BVA), is a Trustee (and was a former treasurer) for the BEVA Trust and is the Veterinary Consultant for the rescue and welfare charity Bransby Horses. Jeremy has authored a number of publications related to equine oncology in the UK and Europe and has lectured on the subject across the world.

Kayleigh Warren

Kayleigh joined the practice in April 2010. She currently works as a registered equine veterinary nurse as part of our clinic team based at our Somerford Park clinic. Within the practice she completes a variety of nursing duties and has a keen interest in lameness, kinematics and rehabilitation. Kayleigh works with our equine vets and lameness cases to ensure they have quality rehabilitation plans in place, ensuring the best outcomes after surgical or medical interventions by the team. Kayleigh is a qualified and registered equine veterinary nurse, RAMP registered equine physiotherapist and equine sports and remedial massage therapist. She also has two children, her own business, a few ponies, and a dog called Ric, so is kept very busy outside of work.

Lara Crebbin

Lara joined Wright and Morten in February 2018, as Receptionist/ Front of House at the new Somerford clinic. Lara is responsible for all clinic appointments, including pre and post operation information and communication. She also supports the rest of the office team in answering the many phone calls. Lara is also responsible for Social Media for the equine side of the business, updates Facebook and the website and has other marketing responsibilities. In her spare time Lara enjoys socializing with friends and family, and competing Jules, her Belgian Warmblood in a wide variety of disciplines. She also has a cat called Millie!

Louise Higginson

Louise has been with the practice since May 2004. She is based part time Monday - Thursday at Somerford Park equine clinic as head Equine Veterinary Nurse. Louise passed her EVN exams in 2007. She is responsible for running the clinic, managing the nursing team and training the student veterinary nurses. Louise is also an AMTRA qualified Equine SQP. Louise lives in Congleton with her partner and two daughters Elsie and Ava.

Louise Pailor RVN

Louise has been with the practice since 1995 and is now Equine Operations Manager. She is responsible for overseeing equine initiatives such as Stock control, client evenings, liasing with drug company reps, client enquiries, managing the nursing team and the smooth running of the practice. Louise is a qualified Equine and small animal nurse and is also a qualified Amtra animal health advisor. She divides her time between Equine nursing care and management issues at Somerford Park. Her areas of interest are wound management and Equine Worming. Louise has a son Oliver and spends her spare time skiing, camping, walking and having lots of fun on her Irish cob Bertie. She has a black Labrador called Dennis. (He's a menace)!

Macey Richmond-Guy

Macey joined us at the end of 2022 and assists the vets and nurses with every day duties such as orthopaedic work ups, care of the inpatients and yard duties. She is particularly interested in lameness investigations. Outside of work she enjoys hacking her horse Evie and going out with friends. She also has teaching qualifications so enjoys helping out with the local pony club in her spare time.

Neil Townsend

Neil qualified from Bristol University in 2004 and after a brief period in mixed practice embarked on an equine only career starting with an Equine internship at Liverpool University and surgical residency at the University of Edinburgh. He re-joined Liverpool University in 2010 as a surgery clinician, setting up an advanced dentistry service including standing CT. He joined Three Counties Equine Hospital, Tewkesbury in 2015 where he provides both an in-house and peripatetic advanced dentistry and surgery service. He is a diplomate of both the European Surgery and Dentistry Colleges and lectures nationally and internationally on these subjects.

Niamh Brown

Niamh graduated from the University of Nottingham where she spent her free time playing polo for the University team and exploring the Peak District. Before coming to Wright and Morten she worked for two years at a very busy equine practice north of Manchester. Since moving to Wright and Morten she has developed a keen interest in medicine and poor performance in competition horses. Niamh can be found both in the Somerford clinic and on the road, but always with her shadow, a young black lab called Wilf. When not at work Niamh is often riding her own horse Snap or with her partner Sam (a fellow vet) exploring new areas with Wilf.

Rachel Helm BVSc
