MORRISH & BANHAM - Key Persons

Caroline Morrish-Banham

Caroline brings a broad experience in customer service and business to the team, always looking forward to the next challenge! "After many evenings spent chatting about the dream of having our own wine business, Mark & I finally jumped at the challenge and set up Morrish & Banham in 2015. I have continued tasting and learning within the wine industry ever since. The world of wine is such an inspiring place to work, not to mention delicious! I have a keen interest in local Dorset wines, what we have on our doorstep is world class and not to be missed. Our industry is ever changing, ever evolving, the journey of discovery is exciting, and I feel lucky to work within ‘Team M&B', the knowledge and passion that exists in our small team really is exceptional and being part of that is very rewarding. When we are off selecting new products for M&B my love is choosing the Champagne, Sparkling wine and fresh, dry whites; there are worse ways to spend the day!"

Mark Banham

Mark is known in the wine trade for his excellent palate and his ability to assess and value wines. He is also known for his approachable, friendly style and his ability to help customers choose the right wine for the right occasion. "I have been in the wine trade for many years and I enjoy the industry now as much as ever and still enjoy the thrill of matching the right wine with the right person. Over the years, having tasted & explored thousands of diverse wines I would like to think that I have developed a pretty good palate and I thrive on finding the next best thing for our shelves! Life in the wine trade started in 1990 as a Junior Buyer for a highly respected wine merchant, Luckins Wine Store, in my hometown of Great Dunmow in Essex. During the next five years I studied at The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in London passing all the examinations including the Diploma by the age of 21. After a break to gain a degree in Geo Archaeology at Leicester University (and play rugby!), I returned to the wine trade to work for Tanners Wines, the great Shropshire wine merchant. In 2002, I joined Palmers Brewery and spent over a decade sourcing its wine before setting up Morrish & Banham wine merchants with Caroline in 2015. In 2020, we joined the Electric Pub Company and our adventure into pubs & restaurants began. In 2024 Caroline & I decided to go ‘back to our roots' and once more M&B is run by the two of us. My desert island wines are still Red Bordeaux and White Burgundy but I love anything that is good value, well made and has a story to tell."
