Today's continuous needle base vascular access for dialysis damages the site creating the following problems, clotting, scarring of the artery, calcifications, tears and infections that slowly reduce the number of sites as well as the patient's life expectancy... The Valve is an implanted minimally invasive approach to go needleless in accessing the patient blood system. Also, this device has served as a platform to develop other products like The Intravenous Access Valve, the stich less Arterial Connector and Arterial Bypass Connector, for quickly repairing vessels and creating bypass especially in the case of trauma. The Valve was design for long term use and minimal maintenance. Also new materials for the Valve that resist blood clotting develop by collaboration between DDE Lab and Dr. Norman Munroe and Dr. Sharan Ramaswami of Florida International University Biomedical Engineering Department.
