In the special case of European Union countries, MTP also complies with the European Union's Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC (CE Mark ), thus extending MTP's international reach. With a growing network of valued distributors, MTP can promptly satisfy cataract surgeons' phacoemulsifier needs... Medical Technical Products was established in 1984, originally supplying OEM phacoemulsifiers to ophthalmic companies which marketed these phacoemulsifiers under various brand names. In order to pass maximum cost savings onto the customer, MTP launched its own phacoemulsifier, the Model 2000 Ophthalmic Surgical System (Model 2000), receiving US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in 1994 to manufacture and to market the Model 2000.
