Ben McQuaid

Job Titles:
  • Temporarily Inactive
Originally from Boston, Ben has been a lifelong coastal dweller; with formative years split between Santa Cruz, CA and the Greater Boston area. He was an only child until 10 but with both parents remarrying became the big brother of 5 siblings, helping raise them all throughout his teen years . Ben was born into a restaurant family with early years spent running around the Howard Johnson's that his maternal grandparents ran outside of Boston. This planted a seed that would grow into the understanding of the importance of family and a love of hospitality and the food and beverage industry ,which became the other constants throughout Ben's life. After attending Northeastern University, Ben followed the allure of the sunshine and the excitement of a new challenge down to the Florida Keys, following the trail blazed by his paternal grandparents who owned a bar and social club on Duval st. in downtown Key West in the 1950's. The next 10 years were spent refining his craft in mixology and restaurant management and although the weather was beautiful, having family split between the east and west coasts and living at the southernmost tip of the country had its challenges. Ben's maternal grandparents retired to the Curry County area in 1987 buying a home in Port Orford , a place that reminded his grandmother Olivia of her childhood home in Ireland. His mother Deirdre, stepfather, and two of his siblings followed settling in the Gold Beach area in 1990. After arriving in Gold Beach for the holiday season in 2007 Ben decided to stay to be closer to family and be live-in care for his grandfather John. Being able to be there with and for his grandfather has been an amazing gift to Ben, cementing him into this community which he has served in an opportunity at restaurant ownership and working at such places as Spinners Restaurant and Tu Tu Tun Lodge. So say "Hi" to Deirdre and his Uncle Bruce at our local fish market Fisherman's Direct and let Ben bring his hard work ethic and genuine love of people to your next home buying experience!
