REAL WOOD

The ecological advantages of real wood as a floor are undeniable. Far less energy is used in the extraction, processing and disposal of wood than with any other building material. As the popularity of real wood floors is increasing, so has the commitment to growing wood. More trees are currently being planted than harvested... Virtually all of the wood we use comes from sustainably managed European forests. "Harvesting" creates space for new growth. For every tree felled, we plant two young trees... The production and processing of wood is extremely energy-efficient, so that wood products have an extremely favorable CO2 balance. In addition, wood can often be used as a substitute for materials such as steel, aluminium, concrete or plastics, which require much greater amounts of energy to produce.
