David Lion

David Lion graduated with honors from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting. Mel Doby graduated from the Bernard Baruch School of Business Administration of the City University of New York. Both partners have extensive Big-Four public accounting experience. Prior to his partnership in Lion, Doby & Company, David worked with entrepreneurs and small- to medium-sized corporations in a variety of different industries while he was employed at a Big-Four public accounting firm, as well as middle market CPA firms. Over the last 30 years, David has worked closely with individuals and entities in many types of industries, as well as on behalf of companies involved in the licensing of its products. David is experienced in all tax aspects, as well as financial accounting and auditing. His clients range in size from small privately held organizations to large multinational corporations covering a variety of different industries including: • Entertainment • Professionals • Retail • Wholesale • Manufacturing • Advertising • Unions • Construction In addition, David specializes in performing royalty and licensing investigations, as well as having advised major entertainment guilds during contract negotiations. Mel Doby

Mel started his career in public accounting at a medium-sized accounting firm where he was hired, prior to graduating college, to proof read registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He worked with this firm and after ten years was admitted as a partner. During his career at this firm, he developed a vast knowledge of taxes and auditing skills. The firm eventually was acquired by a Big-Four accounting firm where Mel was also a partner. Mel services clients, individuals and business entities, on a professional and practical level. He is the person responsible for all audit, review and compilation engagements that Lion, Doby & Company is engaged to perform. Mel also has extensive experience in providing services to homeowner associations (cooperative housing corporations and condominium management associations). His knowledge of these entities comes from his experience as a former president of two cooperative housing corporations.
