NEW ZEPHYRS

The New Zephyrs Quilt Group was established in 2001 by Emiko Toda Loeb, who had been teaching workshops in Japan since 1986. Each year she chooses a theme with the purpose of exhibiting originality and creativity in works by all members based on that theme. Classes are held in Tokyo and Osaka. The students, now about 60 members, cover a wide range of age and experience, and come from all over Japan, from Yamagata in the North to Hiroshima in the South. The group presents two annual exhibitions in Kyoto (since 2004) and Tokyo (since 2005), altogether 35 times, and special exhibitions in Yamagata (Bunshoukan), Matsumoto (Bunka Kaikan), and Fukuoka (Across Fukuoka). Their overseas debut took place in 2018 (June 27 -September 30) at the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, WA (Emiko Toda Loeb and the New Zephyrs Quilt Exhibition).
