Carolyn Kim

Carolyn is a Los Angeles native who received her BA in Physics from Reed College and is currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. She will resume her work with Argonne National Laboratory in performing a feasibility study for using reclaimed water for utility scale solar development projects in the southwestern US. Project highlights include finite element analysis for material selection and the cloud sensor.

Eric Stahl-David

Eric Stahl-David will be working as an assembly engineer for a healthcare technology start-up in Palo Alto, CA after he graduates from Columbia. He is most interested in complex electromechanical systems. He plans to apply his skills in the medical and solar industries throughout his career. His solar tracker project highlights were the embedded microchip programming and magnetic solar cell calibration stage design.

Luke Schwartzel

Luke Schwartzel, a Hood River, Oregon native, is a senior mechanical engineer at Columbia University with a bachelors in Physics from the University of Puget Sound. He competed at UPS in heavyweight rowing and continued his career at Columbia. He is President of the Columbia University White Water Kayak Club and is an avid outdoors-man. He plans on beginning his engineering career with either Intel or Electric Boat. Project highlights include: coding and machining of the panel framework and assembling and testing of the electronics.

Warren Brown-Pounds

Warren comes from Washington State and enjoys the outdoors. When he isn't in the lab, he competes on the track and field team as a pole vaulter. After he graduates he will be moving back to Washington where he will work as a project manager at Janicki Industries, an engineering firm that develops composite tooling for the aerospace and marine industries. His project highlights include the design and manufacture of the solar tracker mechanical system.

Yitzchak Dachman

Job Titles:

Yitzchak Dachman is part of the 3-2 combined plan at Columbia University and will receive a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and a B.A from Yeshiva University with a minor in Physics. He has a strong interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency and plans to continue his career in those fields. Yitzchak currently interns with the engineering team at Willdan Energy Solutions in New York City. His project highlights include the design of the optical sensor and electronics for the GRIN Lens Solar Tracker.
