CIBER is a consortium dependent of the Institute de Salud Carlos III (Institute of Health Carlos III) through the Spain's Ministry of Science and Innovation and co-financed with ERDF and ESF funds. The thematic area of Mental Health (CIBERSAM) is made up of 23 clinical, preclinical and translational research groups from eight of Spain's autonomous communities. These groups, competitively selected from the ones with greatest scientific productivity in the country, are mainly engaged in the study of mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, as well as anxiety disorders and mental disorders of children and adolescents or therapeutic innovation.
