The objective of the assignment was to suspend the wood block on the wood board by any means necessary. Our solution was to support the block entirely from the back to achieve a floating effect... an 8 person team project to create a half scale functioning cool tower. Our strategy was to have the tower mounted on a railing and supported by cables... The objective was to design a structure that would withstand an increasing load with two concentrated focal points. Our solution was to create two simple wood beams that would combine to create a simple truss. The beams are tied together by a thick steel element at the top but the center is completely detached.
