Infrabel was founded in 2005. That means we're still a young company. We were created as part of the reform of the Belgian railways to make free competition possible. But our history goes back much further than that!... Anyone wishing to travel on the Belgian rail network must start by obtaining the necessary permits and safety certificates. Do you want to transport goods or passengers on the Belgian rail network, but do not have the necessary licence and safety certificate as a railway undertaking? As a non-RU applicant, you can book train paths on our network yourself. To do so, you must sign a capacity agreement with Infrabel. You must then select an available railway undertaking according to the train paths ordered... As the manager and operator of the Belgian railway network, we collaborate with various professional partners and suppliers. Together we are building a safe, modern and high-quality rail network.
