Our lab has interests in many aspects of animal physiology, behaviour, and ecology, especially in the context of seasonal migrations and reproduction. Research efforts are focussed primarily, though not exclusively, on freshwater and marine fish species and on birds. By coupling electronic tracking with physiological sampling techniques, we examine how individual variation in physiological and endocrine systems affects migratory performance, reproductive investment, and organismal fitness. Whenever possible, we also seek to apply these findings towards the conservation of bird and fish populations, with the aim of understanding, and hopefully predicting, their responses to environmental change.
