We aim to reduce the burden of foodborne diseases and improve food safety through understanding the ecology and adaptation of foodborne bacterial pathogens... We aim to reduce human exposure to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by studying the emergence, spread, and evolution of AMR in the environment... We study microbial ecology and evolution in settings of natural, agricultural, and food ecosystems. Through the three major research trajectories below, we advance a mechanistic and predictive understanding of microbial diversity, composition, and functioning, and environment-microbe interactions in the real world and translate it into actionable solutions to help improve environmental and agricultural sustainability and public health.
