Assistant Chief Preen is a long-time resident of Barrington. He Joined the Barrington Fire Company in 1994 as a Fire Service Explorer. He attended Camden County Fire Academy in 1998. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November of 2000. He served 2 tours in Southwest Asia in support of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a military Firefighter he also served in many different capacities; Firefighter, Crew Chief, Section Leader, Rescue Team Leader, Rescue Officer, Emergency Services Officer, Ground Safety Manager, and the most rewarding assignment was as a Fire Instructor at the Department of Defense Fire Academy. Assistant Chief Preen has two AS degrees in Teaching and Fire Science, a BS in Emergency and Disaster Management and an MPA in Public Administration. He currently works for Waste Management as a Safety Specialist for the Greater Mid-Atlantic Market Area. He is married to his wonderful wife Rachel and has one beautiful daughter Scarlett who loves to help out wherever she can to support Fire Company events.
